Metadata 2010 is the third conference to be held in Australia following the very successful International Metadata Forum, held in Sydney in May 2008, and "Sharing Data, Sharing Ideas" held at the Australian Bureau of Statistics in May 2009.
The forum was held at University House, Australian National University, Canberra, on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th May, 2010. A "unconference" day was held on Friday 28th May, 2010.

The conference was of interest to both information technologists and information managers from CIOs and developers to records and knowledge managers and enterprise content architects.This event was for those with an interest in: open source, open standards and open (Government) data, digital preservation, digital business continuity, public sector information and technology management, and web content management and archiving. It was also of interest to tertiary educators and the Cultural Sector and a "must" for those who want to learn and engage with the broader information community about this key emerging issue within the digital environment.
